“Hearing loss should not take your music away”, says Lyn Venter, a Stellenbosch Music Teacher

Shock

Music has been my profession for the past 26 years. By day I teach others to play the cello. By night I play in a quartet. Music is my passion. Two years ago my Audiologist confirmed that I had permanent hearing loss. She recommended that I get a hearing aid. Just imagine my shock!

Denial

My musician's heart and pride said “No!” A credible musician and teacher cannot wear a hearing aid. Especially not while performing in public! The teacher's logic said: “Surely no hearing aid can let me experience the pure sounds of music again.” It took a year – while my career steadily deteriorated – before I did something about my loss!

Solution!

Back to my Audiologist. A hearing aid it had to be - and we tried them all. The sound quality I needed to continue my profession, just kept on eluding me. Until we tried Senso Diva Music Program. My misgivings just disappeared! Senso Diva now allows me to communicate and to teach normally again. With Diva I can now listen to and experience my music again in the most natural way. As for my personal pride - Senso Diva is so small, well hidden and effective that no one even knows I am wearing it.
